ALBERTAS RUN is fit and well after a summer break and could follow a similar path to the last few seasons with his campaign set to start in the Betfred Monet's Garden Old Roan Chase at Aintree on October 27, according to connections.
He won the race last year before he came agonisingly close to winning his third Ryanair Chase and fourth Cheltenham Festival crown in March, when Riverside Theatre just snatched the verdict in an epic battle up the famous hill.
The evergreen 11-year-old proved he retains all of his ability and Mick Meagher, racing manager to owner Trevor Hemmings, said: "We haven't made any definite plans with him but he has started in the Old Roan Chase the past two years so it's a possibility for him.
"We will play it by ear with regards to his plans for the rest of the season. He seems well and he has followed almost the same route for the last three seasons so I don't think it will change much this time around."
