McCabe looking to Dubai for Caspar Netscher

CASPAR NETSCHER could start his three-year-old season in Dubai before a shot at Classic glory his trainer Alan McCabe said on Wednesday.

Owned by Charles Wentworth, Caspar Netscher won both the Gimcrack and Mill Reef Stakes this season, the first horse to do so, and finished his season with an eighth in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf.

The Dutch Art colt could be on his travels again early next year with McCabe looking for suitable targets at the Dubai Carnival although the Greenham at Newbury is an alternative target should nothing suitable be found.

"I'm going to look at Dubai for him or the Greenham and see how he gets on from there." McCabe said. "I'll discuss it with Charles before we decide as he's got lots of options but he'd either go to Dubai or start at Newbury."

Red Duke: missed Breeders' Cup

Caspar Netscher could be joined in Dubai by Superlative Stakes winner Red Duke after trainer John Quinn revealed plans to run in the UAE Derby on Dubai World Cup night.

Red Duke, who is owned by Peter Clay, had also been due to run at the Breeders' Cup before plans were shelved after the Hard Spun colt beat only one home in the Dewhurst Stakes.

"We'll aim him at the UAE Derby in Dubai on March 30 over nine furlongs and then with a bit of sun on his back, we'll come back and run in the English Guineas," Quinn told Racing UK.

Caspar Netscher is as short as 25-1 for the Qipco 2,000 Guineas while Red Duke is a general40-1 chance.
