William Buick lands Italian Group 1 on Earl

Report: Italy, Sunday

San Siro: Gran Premio Di Milano - Trofeo SNAI (Group 1) 1m4f, turf, 3yo+

WILLIAM BUICK picked up a Group 1 success in Milan, partnering German-trained Earl Of Tinsdal (Andreas Wohler) to victory over Quiza Quiza Quiza, Vadamar and British-challenger Joshua Tree in this €209,000 event at San Siro.

Buick made all on last year's German Derby runner-up and, having cranked up the tempo from 3f out, never looked in danger of being caught.

The Marco Botti-trained Joshua Tree, the mount of Adam Kirby, made some headway from the rear inside the final three furlongs but could only keep on at the same pace once push came to shove. He had to settle for fourth, five and a quarter lengths adrift of the winner.

Both Quiza Quiza Quiza and Vadamar tried to cut back the winner's advantage in the final 300 yards but neither could muster the pace to mount a challenge.
