AIDAN O'Brien has reported St Nicholas Abbey to be "100 per cent" following his impressive win in the Racing Post Trophy on Saturday and confirmed that serious consideration is being given to a shot at the Stanjames.com 2,000 Guineas.
Ladbrokes still do not quote the new superstar two-year-old for the Guineas, despite the son of Montjeu being a general 3-1 favourite with rival firms following his majestic display in winning the Racing Post Trophy.
O'Brien, speaking on Monday, said of St Nicholas Abbey: "He came out of Saturday's race well and he is fine.
"He wouldn't have any problem with the Guineas trip depending on what his owners want to do. He is a very classy horse as he showed at Doncaster and all the options will be open to him next year.
"When the spring comes we will have theClassics in mind for the better horses and that is when the decisions will be made.
"We were very happy with Steinbeck's run in the Dewhurst considering he had been off since early in the season and he will be aimed at the Guineas."
According to O'Brien, maiden winners Jan Vermeer and Midas Touch are under consideration for the Group 1 Criterium International over 1m at Saint-Cloud on Sunday.
