McCoy has two chances to boost his Lesters tally

BRITAIN'S champion jump jockey Tony McCoy has the chance to add to his haul of 17 'racing Oscars' after it was revealed on Wednesday that he was in the running for two of the ten awards at the 22nd Stobart Lesters on April 5.

The 16-time champion is among the four nominations for Jump Ride of the Year - for his never-say-die ride on Folie A Deux at Warwick last January - and Jump Jockey of the Year, an award he won last year.

Britain's champion Flat jockey Paul Hanagan, who lifted three awards at last year's ceremony, is in line for more honours after being nominated for Flat Jockey of the Year and Flat Ride of the Year, for his effort on Barefoot Lady at Newmarket in April, an award that is sponsored by the Racing Post.

The other nominations are Silvestre De Sousa (Art History, Pontefract, September), Richard Hughes (Dubawi Gold, Goodwood, August) and Tom Queally (Frankel, 2,000 Guineas at Newmarket in May).

To vote for your Racing Post Flat Ride of the Year email your choice to thelesters@racingpost.com. Voting closes on Friday, February 24.

Hanagan's closest rival for the 2011 championship, Silvestre De Sousa, has also been nominated for  Flat Jockey of the Year as well as Flat Ride of the Year.

In changes to previous years, the International Jockey of the Year category becomes International Jockey Ride of the Year, while the Flat and Jump Jockey Special Recognition awards now include racing personalities from outside the weighing room.

The glittering awards ceremony, that celebrates the achievements of jockeys from Britain and overseas during 2011, will take place at the Hilton Metropole in Birmingham in front of a host of sporting stars and celebrities.

Tickets for The Stobart Lesters cost £145 (including VAT) and can be booked from the PJA by downloading a booking form at thepja.co.uk or by calling 01635 778108.
