Tyrur Big Mike is fastest in Irish Derby quarters

PICTURE: Steve NashTYRUR BIG MIKE (5-4F) clocked the fastest time of the night in the quarter-finals of the Ladbrokes.com Irish Greyhound Derby at Shelbourne Park on Saturday evening.
The ante-post favourite again displayed his awsome pace to dominate from the start and although chased down by Thurlesbeg Joker, who ran well to get within one length at the finish, was always in control clocking 29.54sec in the process. Masedo Blue was only a further one length back in third and three of the four fastest qiualifiers on the night came out of this heat.
There had been a major shock in the first eliminator when veteran campaigner Ballymac Under (25-1) rolled back the years with an all-the-way victory in 29.96sec. The 7-4 favourirte Tyrur Enda could only finish fifth. Tyrur McGuigan (7-2) boxed clever in wide open second quarter-final to make all of the running beating Krug Ninety Fiveby 1L in 29.78sec.
Tullymurray Act (2-1) again did the business in the last of the quarter-finals when leading all of the way in 29.67sec.
