BALLYMAC ESKE was the star of the show as local handler Barrie Draper landed a treble at Sheffield with the September 2010 youngstermaintaining his unbeaten record and threatening the 500m track record in the process.

Sent off 4-7 favourite for a puppy open after his debut success at Hall Green last week, Ballymac Eske was fast away and soon raced clear, outclassing his rivals to win by eight lengths in 28.54sec, just 10 spots outside Boher Paddy’s best for the trip.

Draper had earlier landed the other division of the puppy open courtesy of Fire Height Spec (29.00sec), while Capoley Ash was the other winner for the kennel although a half-length victory over 720m was more hard-earned than seemed likely when he led at the first bend.

At Hall Green, there were doubles for trainers Julie Bateson, Stuart Buckland and Richard Yeates.
