Silverview Perky wins dramatic Select Stakes
SILVERVIEW PERKY: A dramatic winner of the Betfred Select Stakes
PICTURE: STEVE NASHSILVERVIEW PERKY was a dramatic winner of the £7,500 Betfred Select Stakes at Nottingham on Wednesday night.
In a race of changing fortunes, Mill Bling Bling broke best and set sail for home. However, Blue Artisan showed sparkling middle speed to take the lead at the third bend.
Mill Bling Bling then rallied but, following contact with Blue Artisan and having hit the front, he lost concentration and turned on Blue Artisan which allowed the everpresent Silverview Perky to snatch the verdict in a time of 30.34sec.
Mill Bling Bling was subsequently disqualified for deliberate interference.
Earlier the £2,500 Betfred Select Stayers Stakes (730m) went to Terry Munslow's Tynwald Tom who led from the third bend to beat a persistent Ballyard Buddy in 45.82sec.
The first of six £1,000 supporting opens was a 500m Standard for Dogs only and Charlie Lister's Boher Paddy, an unlucky runner-up in last season's Select Stakes, dominated from start to finish in 30.32sec.
Stayers got the call at 8.00 and here Paul Young's Grand Prix heroine Swabys Princess, who showed patience and determination, got up close home to beat Conkon in 43.00sec.
The 480m open at 8.15 saw Charlie Lister record his second winner on the night when Farloe Wolverine made all in 29.24sec.
Some quality speed then lined up for the Sprint at 8.35 for which Carol Weatherall's Dynamo Joe bolted out to make all in a speedy 17.73sec
Lister complete a treble when his Silverview Pinky was a gutsy all-the-way winner (30.28sec) of the Bitches only contest at 8.50.
The Pups took centre-stage at 9.25 and Ballymac Eske, ante-post favourite for the 2013 Derby, showed excellent all-round speed to power to a comfortable 28.98sec success.
**SWINDON staged the three semi-finals of the £15,000 British Bred Produce Stakes and fastest qualifier going forward to Saturday's final is Peacemaker.
John Millard's blue made all in the third qualifier to record a superior 28.62sec.
Pete Bailey's Wilson recorded 29.14sec in taking the opener while Nick Savva's Bubbly Princess was a lucky winner of the second eliminator in 28.96sec.
Draw for Saturday's final: 1 Bubbly Swallow, 2 Romeo Recruit, 3 Blackband Scamp, 4 Peacemaker, 5 Wilson (m), 6 Chilli Hot Sauce (w).
