Nottingham: will host the £15,000 Produce Stakes final on Monday
PICTURE: STEVE NASHTHE line-up for the 2012 Nottingham Produce Stakes final is now known and fastest qualifier going forward to next Monday's £15,000 showdown is Romeo Recruit.
The first Semi-final saw Bryan Turner's Story Time once again show superb early pace and clear her field at the first corner.
Once on the bunny, the April 10 whelp was never troubled to score beating Fabulous Adele and Gemstone Jack by 2 1/4 and 1 1/4 in a time of 29.83sec.
Dave Firmager's Romeo Recruit justified odds-on when dominating the second qualifier in 29.72sec. Able to take charge on the run up, he steadily pulled clear to beat his staying-on kennelmate and litter brother Romeo Patriot by 3 1/4L with Silbury Campion back in third.
The card also included heats of two supporting competitions - The Stadium Bookmakers Sprint (305m) and the Stadium Bookmakers Stayers (680m).
The heats of the two-bender saw wins for George Oswald's Fairly Handy in 18.03sec and June McCombe's Kilmalady Fox in 17.94sec
The Stayers heats produced a gutsy all-the-way win for Maggie Roberts' University Man in 41.80sec and Laurence Tuffin's Conor Pass Mick who also made all but was all out to hold Conkon in 42.02sec.
**DRAW For Monday's Produce Stakes Final: (live on SIS 9.22) 1 Fabulous Adele, 2 Silbury Campion, 3 Romeo Recruit, 4 Story Time (m), 5 Gemstone Jack (m), 6 Romeo Patriot (w).
This week's Coral-sponsored competition at ROMFORD was a Standard event over 400m and fastest of the two heat winners was Aero Tobias.
Dean Childs' black hit the lids running and was in charge at the first. He went on to make all and beat Romeo Mercury by 4 1/2L in a flashy 24.07sec.
Heat two saw a powerful performance from Yarmouth Derby finalist Millwards Matt.
Buckfast Kid had blasted out and led up. Both Blue Glenard and Lil Risky made their moves into the third bend but inevitable crowding allowed Paul Young's wide to storm around the outer and win going away in a time of 24.37sec.
Draw for Friday's £750 final (live on RPGTV): 1 Buckfast Kid, 2 Alis Avenger, 3 Blue Glenard (m), 4 Millwards Matt (w), 5 Aero Tobias (w), 6 Romeo Marcury (w).
