MILLWARDS TIGER (5-1), trained locally by Paul Young for Mitch Millward, capitalised on a fast start to make almost all in the £750 final of the Coral on TV Puppy Trophy over 400m at Romford.

Droopys Reason (11-8 from 7-4) commanded the majority of support, but was never really at the races after a modest start as Millwards Tiger quickly hit the front.

Bush Standard, who had shaded him in Monday’s heats, paced up well to perhaps just show marginally ahead at the first bend, but Millwards Tiger railed well to retake the lead and was always in control afterwards, forging clear on the run-in to beat Bush Standard by just over a length in 24.11sec.

The same connections had earlier won the opening sprint when Millwards Dan beat a somewhat unfortunate Fernhill Jess in 13.75sec as he made it four wins in his last five starts.

There was also a double for Ricky Holloway whose Airforce Vegas and Colorful Marco both scored over the 400m course.

Ministry Millie raced clear early for a straight-forward win for Kelly Findlay over 575m, clocking 35.53sec.

Later, Derby-winning trainer Mark Wallis was cheered by an easy win for a heavily-backed Ayamzaman over 400m, chopping off Nans Turbo at the bend and then kicking well clear to score in a fastest of the night 23.83sec. Wallis then completed a quick-fire double in the last when Aero Joker pinched an early lead over 575m, although runner-up Holloway's Airforce Newyork was unlucky after a first bend setback before setting up an exciting finish.

**On a busy night for Paul Young, he gave 525 yards trials at Tralee to Bubbly Phoenix (28.46sec) and Young Sid (28.54sec) ahead of the Betdaq Race of Champions next week. As a guide, the fastest time of the year to date is 28.32sec by Airforce Diva.
