Impressive Gymcrack start for Jaytee Youngy

Paul Young: Trains Kinsley record breaker Jaytee Youngy

JAYTEE YOUNGY, a maiden after four starts going into the competition, broke the track record when taking heat five of The Betfred Gymcrack, a Category Two competition for pups whelped in July 10 or younger and worth £6,000 to winning connections, at Kinsley yesterday afternoon.

Paul Young may have been a little lucky with his Droopys Jay Paul in heat three but there was no such fortune with Jaytee Youngy (7-4) who was made all of the running to beat the odds-on Droopys Hope by five lengths in 27.10sec - knocking 11 spots off the figures set by Taranis Rex in last year's Gymcrack final.
Kim Billingham's debutante Whittle Murtagh, a September 10 Premier Fantasy whelp, had set the bar at a flying 27.25sec when making all of the running in the opener and beating the 5-4 jolly Maglass Rumble by a shade over five lengths.
Rathanny Ruso (7-4F), a dog with winning form in Ireland prior to his move to Trevor Simmons' yard, showed good early pace and railed well to dominate heat two in a time of 27.53sec.
A dramatic third heat, for which a first bend pile-up saw the fancied Little Reminder (ko'd) and Droopys English (badly hampered) put out of the race, went to Paul Young's Droopys Jay Paul (12-1) who was left clear to record a modest 27.94sec.
Pelaw Grange grader Glaise Giant (10-1) put his stamp on the event when dotting up in heat four.
Trevor Jameson's brindle overcame a tricky draw to make all of the running and beat Tyrur Oscar by eight lengths in 27.59sec.
Pat Rosney's Blazing Ruso was the subject of strong market support to take heat six and, despite a missed break, the 4-6 jolly showed good early pace to assume command at the first bend and go on to make a UK debut win in 27.78sec.
