Imperial Boy storms to a Grand win at Notts
Yahoo Jamie: Another impressive win at Nottingham
PICTURE: STEVE NASHTHE Monday night Bags card at Nottingham was highlighted by the £500 Caffreys Grand Prix Trophy final for which Imperial Boy (T6) was sent off a well-suported 4-5 favourite.
Paul White's charge, who has never been in better form, took the race by the scruff of the neck early doors and forged clear on the first circuit and was never troubled to beat the rallying Bringthemhome by 4 1/2L in 42.47sec.
The programme also included three heats of the Stadium Bookmakers Standard Trophy (500m) and fastest qualifier going forward to next Monday's decider is Mays Stewart.
Lenny Troughton's white and black, who was odds-on but finished sixth when last here on March 26, made amends with a superb performance in heat two.
Taking advantage of a dream run to the corner, he quickly edged ahead and slowly drew further and further away to score by over eight lengths in 30.27sec.
The opening heat had seen Terry Munslow's Firecracker Jack (5-1) get first run on his opposition to make all in a time of 30.38sec.
The third eliminator produced a good buckle between rails runner Cavecourt Derry and the wide running Romeo Absolute with the latter, trained by Dave Firmager, getting on top close homer in a less exciting 30.70sec and making it a clean sweep for the stripes.
Charlie Lister's Yahoo Jamie continued his love affair with Nottingham when recording his seventh success from eight starts at the Colwick Park venue when easily making all (29.02sec) in a one-off 480m contest.
**In trials before racing, Charlie Lister’s top prospect Farloe Tango posted an excellent 29.85sec (+10)in a 500m solo. Only Bansha Mo (29.69sec) and Newmarket Flyaway (29.75sec) have recorded faster race-winning times over the course and distance this year.
Fastest sprint workout at the session came from Keith Allsop’s Slick Seahawk, who posted 17.89sec (normal) over the 305m course.
