Hernandez underlines his Arc credentials
Swindon: home of the Ladbrokes Mobile Arc
PICTURE: STEVE NASHHERNANDEZ, trained locally by Chris Stringer, produced a brilliant performance in the top division of the Ladbrokes Swindon Arc trial stakes at Swindon on Wednesday when giving the 480m track record of Mark My Words a bit of a shake.
A 12-1 winner seven days earlier, he was sent off half those odds on this occasion but made that price look ridiculously generous by taking early command and storming to a six and a half lengths success over Kingsmill Super in a time of 28.31sec, just five spots outside the clock.
It was a good night for local runners with Kevin Hutton landing a trial stakes double courtesy of debutant Glenbane Air (28.77sec) and Ding Hero (28.54sec), while Jane Houfton’s long trip to the Wiltshire circuit was rewarded with victory for Tinas Zodiac in 28.72sec.
Earlier on the card, John Mayo’s Burwood Freddie foiled a gamble on Eden Rumble when winning over 509m, while the puppy contest went to Paul Foster’s Forest Banjo from odds-on Borna George.
@The Category One Ladbrokes Mobile Arc starts with eight heats at Swindon’s Bags meeting on Monday, February 20. It closes at noon the previous Thursday.
