HENLOW is to stage tonight’s feature race, the Primus Telecom Puppy Derby final, at 8.15pm to try to beat predicted temperatures of -8C at the Bedfordshire venue tonight.
“We harrowed salt into the track and have put another ten bags on top,” said general manager Rob Morton yesterday afternoon, “but the forecast says it will be -6C here by 6pm, so it will be touch and go.
“For that reasonwe got permission from the GBGB to bring the big race forward [from 9.45pm] and hopefully we might at least beat the freeze with that.”
