Hayesy races to victory in Swindon Monkey final
Kelly Findlay: Amongst the winners at Swindon with Coolavanny Jane
PICTURE: STEVE NASHHEAD ITON HAYESY (1-2F) was a runaway winner of the Swindon January Monkey 509er at the Wiltshire track with Steve Race’s charge dominating throughout.
He had overcome trouble to win his heat a week earlier when underfoot conditions did not seem to be favouring railers such as him so the fact he was the slowest of the heat scorers went largely ignored in the market – and justifiably so as it transpired.
Quickly in charge, he did not see another rival as he powered to an eight lengths success over World Charm in recording an excellent 29.77sec over the stiff four-bend course.
Kelly Findlay’s Coolavanny Jane landed odds of 4-6 in the first of the night’s supporting opens over 509m but shocks were the order of the day otherwise with Heather Dimmock’s Jurisdiction (10-1) winning over 685m and then Chris Stringer’s Hernandez (12-1) and Jo Burridge’s Fiddlers Green (10-1) landing their respective Swindon Arc trial stakes.
