Rea excited by sale

HALL GREEN general manager Stephen Rea is looking forward to Sunday’s sales at the Birmingham track - “without doubt the finest collection of young puppies I have ever seen in a British sale” - and can give a personal recommendation.

“I’ve bought my dogs from the Hall Green sales including Droopys Comfort, who won a Coventry competitionfor us and is running in the [William Hill] St Leger at the weekend,” said Rea, “and we do get a lot of well known trainers who buy from us such as Elaine Parker who has got some real bargains out of the last two sales such as Prodigious, who just reached the [Betfred] Laurels final.

“With Walthamstow closing, a traditional outlet for useful puppies has now gone and, as such, breeders in Ireland have had to look for another source - I reckon that there will be some real stars to be had at the right money this Sunday.

“We only have two sales a year at Hall Green, one in the spring and one in the autumn, and the reason for that is that we try to make sure that the vendors send over quality dogs rather than just what is available each month.”
