SKYLINE FLECK showed his rivals a clean pair of heels to land the £750 final of the Coral on TV Maiden Trophy over 400m at Romford on Friday for Peterborough handler Russell Senior.

The well-backed 2-1 favourite broke reasonably well from trap three and shrugged off a slight coming together with Killieford Jazz on his immediate inside to pace up quickly and take command at the first bend.

Initially challenged by kennelmate Bobs Third, Skyline Fleck was then pursued by Parkwest Angel along the back stretch but never really looked in any serious danger and came home two lengths to the good of that rival in recording 24.46sec.

There were doubles on the supporting card for local handlers Maxine Locke (Sharons Return and Little Spark), David Mullins (Droopys Chase and Balmi Blue) and Paul Young (Blue Max and Millwards Matt) plus Doncaster trainer Jim Hayton (Boyneside Banty and Viking Cheryl).

Nick Savva's hopes of a double were thwarted in the finale when Westmead Maldini had to settle for second behind Kelly Findlay's Ministry Millie and was so unable to build on kennelmate Westmead Jules's earlier success.
