PICTURE: Steve NashROMFORD staged heats of three seperate competitions on Wednesday night with the finals of each event, worth £1,000 to the winner, being staged next Wednesday on Championsnight live on Sky Sports.
First up were the Puppies over 400m and it was Seamus Cahill's Puppy Derby winner Rayvin Giovanni (1-4F) who produced a stunning performance in heat two to score by seven lengths in a scorching 23.77sec. Pete Goodfellow's Devastator (11-4) had taken the opener in 24.57sec while Pat Rosney's Little Urge (1-3F) landed the odds in the third with 24.45sec.
There was a very good turn out for the Hurdles competition and fastest on the night was Maxine Locke's Little Spark (9-4) who took the third heat in 24.60sec. Tony Collett's Lenson Flash (2-1) virtually made all in the opener to clock 24.66sec while Ricky Holloway's Romeo In Miami (3-1) just had the legs of Bigstrongpup in a rough heat two with 24.79sec.
The first of three explosive heats of the 400m Standard saw Seamus Cahill back in the winner's circle when Tearaway John (9-2) scored in 24.17sec. Paul Garland's 'second string' Kish Corsair (6-1) took heat two in 24.12sec and the show closed with a second winner for Pete Goodfellow as Mays Rocknroller sprung a 6-1 surprise recording 24.32sec.
