Droopys Loner is 4-1 favourite with the sponsors for the williamhill.com Classic at Sunderland following the opening heats of the UK Festival of Greyhound Racing on Saturday night.
Blue Artisan, who clocked the fastest time of the evening in 26.68s, is next in the betting at 5-1 ahead of Loughteen Blanco at 11-2. Lil Risky and Mill Bling Bling, who are set to oppose in the opening semi-final next weekend, are quoted at 6-1.
Mark Wallis’s Blonde Fletch, the reigning champion, heads the williamhill.com Grand Prix betting at 3-1 despite getting touched off last night by Swarbys Princess, with Express Trend next in the market at 7-1. Ballymac Pet saw seasonal return success with a ninth victory on the spin and is quoted by Hills in a share of 10-1.
William Hill spokeswoman Lucy Rhodes said “We saw good interest in both Droopys Loner and Ballymac Pet straight after we released betting, and the pair justified the support in passing their respective initial assignments with ease. While a superb effort from local hero Blue Artisan, who is now of veteran status and on his third crack at the Classic, fully entitles him to a lofty position in a competitive market”
