TUESDAY night saw Sheffield stage seven open races on their Bags programme with two heats of the Young Guns competition being the highlight.

In the opening qualifier Jane Houfton's Dunham Collier (5-1) showed the superior early pace and built up a healthy lead by the third bend. However, she had to hold a late charge from Elaine Parker's Russanda Phil, the 5-4 jolly, who came from out of the pack to chase her down and get within a short-head of the winner who clocked 28.78sec.
Heat two was all about Barrie Draper's newcomer Farloe Warhawk who was sent off the red-hot 1-3 favourite.
The September 10 Ace Hi Rumble whelp never gave his supporters a moments anxiety - breaking well and leading up, he hit the boost down the far side to outclass his opposition and beat Russanda Grant by five lengths in a very smart 28.24sec.

Draw for next week's Final: 1 Farloe Warhawk, 2 Russanda Grant, 3 Russanda Phil, 4 Viking Cheryl (m), 5 Dunham Collier (m), 6 Flashes Jet (w).
