Citi too Slick for Rotar Wing at Nottingham
Charlie Lister: Trains Bandicoot Frisky
PICTURE: Steve NashSLICK CITI gave start and a beating to Rotar Wing to land the Caffreys Sprint Trophy over 305m at Nottingham for Keith Allsop at the start of a big week for the trainer who also owns Ladbrokes.com Irish Derby finalist Tullymurry Act.
All looked set fair for 8-11 favourite Rotar Wing when he led the charge early, but he could never shake of his only realistic market rival Slick Citi (5-4) and the Allsop dog ultimately ground him down for a three-parts of a length victory in 18.14sec.
Bandicoot Frisky was the standard-setter in the heats of the Caffreys National Oaks over 500m with Charlie Lister’s bitch outstaying Memories Blonde to take the third in 30.86sec. Paul Sallis’s Klockwork Kyla got first run on Beautiful City to take the opener in 30.89sec, while Debbie Calvert’s Cover Mazz just held off Minglers Fly to prevail in the third in 31.01sec.
At Romford, there were impressive performances from Barnagrane Mark (24.19sec) and Bright Redcliffe (24.25sec) in the heats of the Coral TV Maidens over 400m, with Moyar Champ holding on to take a scrappy opener in 24.72sec.
Draw for Friday’s £750 Coral TV Maidens Trophy final: 1 Teflon Tim, 2 Bright Redcliffe, 3 Barnagrane Mark, 4 Blacknomilk (m), 5 Bigger Legend (m), 6 Moyar Champ (m).
