Chris and Louie steel the show at Sheffield
Charlie Lister: His Jordans Chris was very impressive at Sheffield
PICTURE: STEVE NASHFIVE open races at Sheffield on Tuesday night kicked off with a 720-metre Super Stayers for which Barrie Draper's Magna Sparrow (4-6F) justified the confidence to comfortably beat Charlie Lister's Tyrur Pudsy by almost seven lengths in 43.41sec.
There was plenty of support behind Steve Race's Ballymac Silva in the Sprint contest at 7.42. However, after being crowded out when in a prominent position, the September 09 debutante finished down the field behind John Sharp's Bowtime Honcho (5-1) who overcame a tricky draw in six to score in 16.31sec.
The 480m Puppy race at 7.58 looked a match between Barrie Draper's Fire Height Spec and Charlie Lister's Jordans Chris.
However, the dual was something of an anti-climax when Jordans Chris turned in front and powered clear down the back straight to beat his market rival by an impressive 5 1/4L in a flying 27.70sec.
Elaine Parker's course and distance specialist Skywalker Louie (10-11F) managed to turn second to the fast-starting Stepaside Bigjak in the 500m Standard and it was then just a matter of time before he got on top - as he did from the final bend to win going away in 29.13sec.
Barrie Draper's Farloe Kyle, an impressive winner over 515m at Hove last week, was sent off odds on for the second Super Stayers of the night but, after showing blistering early pace, was run down close home by Charlie Lynch's Kielduff Merc (4-1) in a time of 43.50sec.
