Charity golf day for RGT and Help For Heroes
Daren Johnson: Aiming to raise 100k for RGT and Help For Heroes
DAREN JOHNSON is to resume his quest to raise a staggering £100,000 for the Retired Greyhound Trust and Help For Heroes with a charity golf day at the London Club, Kent, on May 3.
Johnson’s Give A Bit Back challenge saw him run, walk and cycle from John O’Groats to Land’s End last year and this year’s plans include not just the golf day but a team in the UK Ironman 2012 in July.
“We managed just over £31,000 last year, which wasn’t bad in the circumstances, but I won’t stop until we get to six figures,” said the part-owner of 2009 Derby winner Kinda Ready.
Johnson promises a fun-filled day at the London Club with the golf supported by post-fairway entertainment including a comedian. Sporting personalities will also be invited to attend on the day. “We’re hoping to spread the word over the coming few weeks, and the Give A Bit Back website will shortly carry all the details,” he added. “So many people were so generous last year and we’re hoping for the same again.”
The event will be limited to 25 teams at £800 per team. For details contact Johnson via email daren.johnson@ukgunite.co.uk or telephone on 0797 3251421.
