Cahill's Dusty takes off in Romford Puppy heats
Seamus Cahill: His Guinness Dusty was impressive in Puppy heats
PICTURE: STEVE NASHTHREE heats of a Coral On TV Puppy Trophy competition were the highlights of Romford's Monday night Bags card and punters were treat to a stunning performance from Seamus Cahill's Guinness Dusty (EvsF) who blew away the opposition in heat two to score by nearly ten lengths in a flying 23.63sec.
The opening eliminator had seen an impressive run from Maxine Locke's Sharons Return (9-4JF) who pinged the lids and made all in a time of 24.16sec.
The third qualifier was a bit of an anti-climax with Paul Young's Millwards Tiger (3-1JF) winning a very scrappy affair in a pedestrian 24.97sec.
Draw for Friday's final (live on RPGTV): 1 Sharons Return, 2 Millwards Tiger, 3 Ballymac Folly, 4 Savana Ruby, 5 Guinness Dusty (m), 6 Millwards Matt (w).
The Stadium Bookmakers Standard Final (500m) at Nottingham, which went off at 9.22, was won by 7-2 second favourite Firecracker Jack.
Terry Munslow's dog broke best and was able to dominate the action from the front - always pulling out a little bit more when needing to, he beat 6-4 jolly Mays Stewart by one length in 30.34sec.
The card also included a brace of William Hill 480m Puppy Trophy heats for which, as expected, Charlie Lister's two odds-on favourites duly obliged to set up a fascinating decider next Monday.
Lister's debutante Jordans Chris (1-3F) showed early pace but ran off (green) at the first bend but quickly regained momentum down the far side and stormed ahead from the third bend to score by a shade over six lengths in 29.22sec.
In heat two Farloe Tango (1-4F) got unlucky then lucky to record a very easy success in a flying 28.71sec. The September 10 whelp was squeezed up badly out of the boxes and was trailing into the first bend but everything else swung off and the white-hot jolly then showed bis pace and class to surge clear for an eight length victory.
