Ballymac William wins Ladbrokes Puppy Derby

Ballymac William credited his handler Carly Philpott with her third win in the event with a brilliant display in the Ladbrokes Puppy Derby Final at Monmore on Thursday night.

He was always in a winning position from the start but Bower Eagle made him work hard for the title before the winner was finally able to assert from the third bend to land the Category One prize in 28.16sec.

Elsewhere HENLOW staged the semi-finals of the Grand Prix , a competition that was blown wide open early Thursday morning by the withdrawal of red-hot favourite Dazzle Special (in season).

The first semi-final went off at 9.45 and John Mullins' well-supported Bridge Diamond (4-5F) did the business. Heflew the lids and made all of the running to beat Hello Hippy and Group Skater in 42.20sec.

The second eliminator went to Razzmatazz (Evens) who also made all of the running in beating Capel Yankee and Skyscrape Star in 42.26sec.

**Draw for next Thursday's £8,000 Grand Prix Final: 1 Group Skater, 2 Hello Hippy, 3 Capel Yankee, 4 Razzmatazz (m), 5 Bridge Diamond (m), 6 Skyscape Star (w).

SITTINGBOURNE staged five Open races on their Thursday night Bags programme and champion trainer Mark Wallis, who has enjoyed immense success in recent weeks here, was on the scoresheet again.

Team Wallis sent out Jogadusc Ace (Evs) to make all in 450m Mini Standard at 6.48 and that was quickly followed by Kinda Easy's(1-2) battling win over Centurion Enry in the 642m Stayers at 7.22.

However, the golden spell ended when Eye Onthe Flash, who just a fortnight ago broke the track record here, trailed in last behind Plassey (7-1) in a scrappy 480m Standard at 7.52. Wallis' puppy Aero Bolt was very, very unlucky when short-headed by Baron Samedi in the 8.22 and is in the notebook!
