Ballymac Eske equals the Nottingham track record
Ballymac Eske (T1) made it seven wins on the bounce at Nottingham
PICTURE: STEVE NASHBALLYMAC ESKE, arguably the most exciting greyhound in training right now and generally ante-post favourite for next year's William Hill Derby, ran in a Betfred Eclipse Trial Stakes at Nottingham on Monday and produced a record-breaking run.
Breaking well and storming into a clear lead around the first two turns, Barrie Draper's aeroplane kept up a relentless gallop to beat Charlie Lister's Jordans Chris by 7 3/4 lengths in 29.28sec to equal the track record held by Charlie Lister's Shelbourne Rene since 2006.
Earlier, on the Bags section of the card, The Stadium Bookmakers 480m Trophy final was won by Bit View Micko (7-2). Arguably the strongest runner in the final, Corren Price's black broke well and disputed the lead with Garly Rocky. Getting on top around the final two turns, the Westmead Hawk whelp then steadily forged on for a comfortable 4 1/2L success in a fabulous new track record of 28.32sec.
The Colwick Park programme also included two heats of The Corona Sprint Trophy (305m) and these were won by Pat Cowdrill's Outbound Conka (7-4) in a sparkling 17.63sec and John Sharp's Fridays Dynamo (5-4F) who recorded 17.79sec.
ROMFORD staged three heats of The Coral On TV Bitches Trophy (final Friday) and fastest qualifier going forward to what promises to be a cracking £750 decider is Jaytee Cuba.
Paul Young's charge, a 5-2 second favourite, cracked out from the six-box to get first run on market rival Slick Sian and, maintaining the advantage to the line, recorded a fastest-of-the-session 24.02sec to take the opener.
Heat two saw Keith Allsop's Slick Seamist (5-2JF), litter sister to Slick Sian, show good pace to lead up from the one-box and dominate thereafter.
Forging ahead from the halfway pole, she recorded a near-four length success over Fabulous Agenda in 24.05sec.
Dave Mullins' Blue Glenard (4-6F) justified support in heat three but it wasn't all plain sailing for the April 10 whelp. She paced up after a modest break and then had to ride a first bend bump before getting the better of kennelmate Alis Avenger down the far side and going on to score by 1 1/4L in 24.19sec.
Draw for Friday's final live on RPGTV: 1 Fabulous Agenda, 2 Slick Sian, 3 Slick Seamist, 4 Alis Avenger, 5 Blue Glenard (m), 6 Jaytee Cuba (w).
