Star filly Amani shines in Clasico St Leger

Hipodromo Chile: Clasico St Leger (Group 1) 1m3f, dirt, 3yo
LAST YEAR'S champion two-year-old filly Amani (Marco Pavez/Hernan Ulloa) capped off a near-perfectrecord in Chile with an easy Classic victory over colts in the second leg of the national Triple Crown.
Sent off the odds-on favourite, the exceptional daughter of Morning Raider reaffirmed herself as Chile's leading three-year-old female on dirt with a convincing victory in the country's premier Classic.
Quick Casablanca, third in the El Ensayo, the series first leg, was second on his dirt debut.
Amani's victory, which came on the back of her runaway 29-length procession in the Group 1 Clasico Alberto Solari Magnasco, also represented her chance to avenge her sole defeat to Lord Parker, who finished an unthreatening sixth.
Ridden by Hernan Ulloa, who celebrated his first St Leger triumph, Amani clocked a time of 2min 19.13sec to take her record to ten wins from 11 career starts.
One of only three horses to clinch the track's Triple Crown for fillies, the Haras Sumaya homebred will now be shipped to California where she is to resume her racing career, according to principal owner Oussama Aboughazale.
The Chilean Triple Crown series culminates with the 1m4f El Derby on turf at Valparaiso Sporting Club on February 5.
