JAMIE MACKAY has lost his appeal against the 14-day ban he incurred when found to have breached the non-triers' rule after the Willie Musson-trained Artisan finished seventh of eleven in a 1m maiden at Lingfield on June 4.
Mackay's suspension, fromSaturday, June 18, to Friday 1 July inclusive, reflected it being the rider's second offence within 24 months. The BHA disciplinary panel also ordered that Mackay's deposit be forfeited.
After the race on Saturday, the stewards heard evidence from Mackay and the trainer's representative as well as viewing recordings of the race.
The stewards found the jockey in breach of rule (b)59.4 and guilty of failing to take all reasonable and permissible measures to obtain the best possible placing.
Mackay has ridden three winner from 42 rides this year.
