Synchronised's Hennessy bid hinges on gallop
SYNCHRONISED, who stormed to victory in the Lexus Chase in December, will only run in the Hennessy Gold Cup at Leopardstown on February 12 if he pleases trainer Jonjo O'Neill in his work next week.
The nine-year-old is a top-priced 3-1 favourite with Paddy Power to land his second successive Grade 1 and Frank Berry, racing manager to owner JP McManus, said he took time to recover from his eight-length Lexussuccess.
He also said he could head straight to Cheltenham for the Betfred-sponsored Gold Cup if he fails to satisfy his trainer on the gallops.
"He'll do a bit of work midweek and the intention is to travel, and Tony [McCoy] will be over again all being well," said Berry.
"It took him a bit of time to recover from the Lexus but he seems well enough in himself again and, if he pleases Jonjo during the week, he'll run at Leopardstown and if not he'll wait until Cheltenham."
Synchronised is currently between 10-1 and 12-1 for the Cheltenham Gold Cup in March.
