THURSDAY'S meeting at Wincanton is subject to a 1pm inspection on Wednesday.
Temperatures dipped to a low of -5C on Monday night and it could get even colder on Tuesday evening, forcing officials to take an early look.
Barry Johnson, clerk of the course at Wincanton, said on Tuesday: "The ground is frozen in places at the moment but by taking some of the hurdles out and missing one of the fences we could probably have raced today.
"The problem is that it only momentarily got down to -5C on Monday night but the forecast tonight is for similar temperatures for much longer periods and if that's the case we're going to be frozen solid.
"We would have a sporting chance if the forecast is wrong but there's no point prolonging it and we will look on Wednesday."
Thursday's six-race card is dueoff at 2.15pm and the going on Monday was soft, heavy and frozen in places.
