Crackerjack King cut for Coral-Eclipse success

CRACKERJACK KING has been trimmed to give trainer Marco Botti the biggest win of his career in Saturday's Coral-Eclipse at Sandown.

Formerly trained in Italy by Botti's cousin Stefano, Crackerjack King will be having his first start for the Newmarket trainer, who will be attempting to maintain the four-year-old's prolific record. He has won seven times from eight starts.

A standout 12-1 for the Eclipse with Boylesports on Saturday morning, Crackerjack King is 8-1 with that firm and 15-2 (from 11) with BetVictor.

"Everything has gone smoothly," said Botti. "Without So You Think it is an open race, but I think the ground will probably be the key.

"We would prefer good ground. I am not convinced he would want the ground too soft and although he won on it in Italy that was in different company."

The ground at Sandown is good to soft, soft in places and the field has been reduced to nine following the defection of the Brian Meehan-trained Cogito (going).
