Do It For Dad 360

Racing Post is thrilled to launch the ‘Racing Post Do it for Dad 5k Fun Run’ series as part of our commitment to The Prostate Cancer Charity for 2012.

Racing Post has teamed up with Northern and Arena Racing to host the events that will take place at several racecourses over the course of 2012 in order to raise much needed funds for the charity.

The first fun-runs will take place over the weekend of Saturday, August 11 and Sunday, August 12 at Lingfield Park and Newcastle racecourses respectively.

We would like to encourage as many of you as possible to sign up and take part in these events and to gather as many friends and family to join in the fun.

Run, walk or stroll, it’s all about participation and raising funds to help combat prostate cancer. Over 10,000 men will die every year from the disease, which equates to almost one every hour.

Commenting on the fundraising initiative Bruce Millington, editor of the Racing Post, said: "Racing Post really wanted to kickstart a fundraising campaign which not only appealed to our readers but also involved the racecourses.

"Prostate cancer has affected many within the racing and sporting world, including our very own David Ashforth. We hope that the ‘Do it for Dad’ fun runs not only raise awareness of the disease but also encourage the whole family to visit their local course and participate."

Mark Bishop, director of fundraising for The Prostate Cancer Charity said: "We are so grateful to the Racing Post for creating the Do it for Dad Fun-Run series, and I’m sure its fantastic readers will rise to this new challenge.

"Every year, over 40,000 men are diagnosed with prostate cancer, which is the most common cancer in men. We’re fighting the disease on every front - through research, support, information and campaigning. Funds raised by Racing Post readers will help us support men affected by prostate cancer and their families."

Registration is simple and the cost is £25 per adult, but all kids under the age of 18 can participate for free. Simply visit racingpost.com/prostate and register online now. Keep an eye out for more racecourse dates coming soon.
