Why I'm backing Belgians for a famous win

REMEMBER all the talk over the years of Rangers and Celtic deserting Scotland to join the English Premier League?

These days the Blue Square Bet Premier would surely be more appropriate for Celtic in their dismal run of form.

Shipping three goals at Kilmarnock means Rennes will be licking their lips at the prospect of taking on Neil Lennon's out-of-form team and I'm backing them to batter the Bhoys.

On a more serious note, you would seriously have to wonder whether Celtic could even hold their own in the Championship such is the state of the game north of the border.

Birmingham are an example of the sort of team who could challenge Lennon's men, but I still think they might find a trip to Bruges beyond them.

In fairness to the Brum boys they were probably a little unlucky to be relegated last season, what with the cup run that saw them beat Arsenal at Wembley and then take their eye off the ball in the league.

But despite a couple of good wins over Leicester and Forest, they don't look much better than an average Championship side now after a load of players, plus the manager, jumped ship in the summer.

I can't imagine that's going to be good enough to match Bruges, who have an awesome record at home and have already won their first two games in the group. Geton the Belgians.
