Trying to learn to not make same mistake twice

MY mum has many sayings in life that are completely ridiculous – pick a penny up and all day you'll have good luck is one piece of nonsense – but I totally agree in not making the same mistake twice.

So how is this for a statistic – Liverpool have failed to win at odds-on eight times this season. EIGHT times! Talk about a flopping favourite, Liverpool have ruined more coupons than I've had girlfriends although in fairness Wigan have ruined more coupons than I've had women.

With Luis Suarez banned and Andy Carroll starting, there is no chance of me falling for Liverpool again at a short price so I reckon Bolton could turn out to be the value wager of the weekend.

I know the Trotters are pretty rubbish and have a worse defence than Arsenal but Liverpool could have one eye on the Carling Cup semi-finals on Wednesday and are only seventh in the Premier League, which is a terrible effort given how much they've spent.

After the Reebok clash all eyes, well mine anyway, will be on the African Nations Cup as joint-hosts Equatorial Guinea take on Libya and I can honestly say I have never heard of any of the players in either squad. In fact I have never even heard of Equatorial Guinea.

Things hot up in the later game as my outright fancy Senegal take on Zambia. Every man and his dog seems to be on the Lions of Teranga to win the tournament and you can see why with a squad full of firepower containing seven strikers, including Demba Ba.

Your guess is as good as mine as to how Senegal will fit all their forwards into the starting 11 but as my mum says: You can never have too much of a good thing.
