Weblog: The football punter
Time to take stock after familiar penalty agony
I WAS against England with most of my pre-tournament wagers but having just started to believe that they might stand a chance of glory, that penalty agony has hit me harder than I expected.
Italy gave them a footballing lesson – although it's a lesson they've been taught before and show no signs of learning from – but while I'm sure the Azzurri are going to be drained after a tense 120 minutes, I'm not getting too excited about the implications of that for my ante-post punt on Germany.
It's not wise to have bets when emotions are running high and judgement is skewed so I'm going to wait for my disappointment to settle in before I get involved again.
At least I'm used to it so I'm sure it won't take long.
