Weblog: The football punter
One bad day will not lead me to desert favourites
IT all used to be so easy.
It was simple.
You glanced down the football coupon and saw who was the hot favourite and backed them.
Backed as many as you wanted.
Stuck them in a huge acca and award yourself a nice fortnight sipping pina coladas on a Barbados beach after staking just a quid.
But after one week, we are left scratching our heads as to why Manchester United couldn’t beat Newcastle and how Arsenal could falter against Fulham.
I’m sorry to say that it looks like football has got back to normal.
But there’s a couple of favourites I’ll be looking to trust on Sunday.
Firstly, Rangers are looking for their 15th successive away victory when they play Kilmarnock at lunchtime, yet you can make a profit of 50 per cent on them winning at Rugby Park.
There isn’t a bank account in the land where you could get that sort of return.
And should Manchester City’s visit to Liverpool really be a choice affair?
I know Roberto Mancini’s boys slipped up at Napoli last week, but no one has looked capable of touching them in the Premier League so I’ll be having a nice lump on them as well.
