More Red Devil-taming may lead to name change
Athletic Bilbao did the business for me in the first leg of their Europa League tie against Man United and I'm expecting to have a few beers on Bielsa again after the return.
The club's stadium is named after an early Christian called Mammes of Caesarea, who a highly respectable online journalistic tool tells me was thrown to the lions over 2,000 years ago but managed to tame them and escape.
I'm not expecting any lion-taming by the Red Devils and at the prices I think I'll be backing things to get even worse for them, especially in light of the Spaniards' outstanding home record.
Athletic have won 10 of their last 12 matches at San Mames and United's unconvincing European form surely makes them one to avoid.
I think Bilbao might be the club which most closely resemble my name (answers on a postcard if I'm wrong) so I have long since had a soft spot for them and if Marcelo Bielsa can mastermind another tasty triumph, I'll seriously consider changing my name by deed poll to Bilbao Bunter.
I can't imagine a better way to Basque in my glory.
