Canaries win will be icing on cake of fab campaign

I NOTICED earlier on in the week that this season’s Premier League campaign was voted the best in the history of football. Well, at least since Sky invented the game we all love.

But what on earth did the voters have to get so excited about?

Well apart from the fact that we still don’t know who will win the Premier League, who will fill the Champions League spots and the three teams going down, what is there to get the juices flowing on the final day?

It’s not as if we have had that many memorable games either really apart from Man City’s 6-1 demolition of Man United and the 5-1 thrashing of Spurs.

And yeah I suppose you could stick in United’s 8-2 romp against Arsenal and that 4-4 draw with Everton and the 3-3 draw at Chelsea.

I know we also had Arsenal’s 5-2win over Tottenham and the 5-3 at Chelsea plus Spurs had the 5-0 victory against Newcastle, the 4-0 against Liverpool and a 3-2 defeat at City too.

There was the odd shock - Wigan beating Arsenal at the Emirates, Newcastle thumping United, Blackburn winning at Old Trafford and Wolves keeping a clean sheet - but I mean apart from all that, what exactly have we had to enjoy from this campaign!

It’s been an absolute blast and it feels like only last week that the season kicked off on August 13 with that memorable goalless classic between Fulham and Aston Villa at Craven Cottage.

Unfortunately, that was as good as it got for Villa, and my best bet on Sunday is for Alex McLeish to finish his reign as boss - well I assume it will be the end - with defeat at Norwich, who have beena breath of fresh air to the top flight.

I also can’t resist having one last punt on a crazy outcome at the Etihad and I will throw a couple of quid on QPR beating City and handing the title to United.

I know,  I know, I know, it’s unlikely to happen but after the vintage campaign we have had there could be just one final twist to come.
