I'm still carrying a
torch for Pompey
IS everyone excited about the Olympics?
The Games are a once-in-a-lifetime experience aren’t they? Apart, of course, from the few torch-bearers who turned it into a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to make loads of cash by flogging their torches on ebay.
The best way to make £20,000 – other than become a tube driver for the duration of the Olympics – is surely to lay Portsmouth for relegation from League One.
I know it’s all been pear-shaped at Fratton Park for years but they’ve still got enough about them to shrug off a ten-point handicap.
I’m sure I remember the bookies running scared of a relegation market when Luton, Bournemouth and Rotherham all began League Two with massive deductions – and Bournemouth and Rotherham both survived.
Pompey may not have been good enough for the Championship but they’ll do fine in League One even giving the field a start.
