BILLY BUNTER

Weblog: The football punter

I can't resist big build-up first goalscorer punts

I AM one of those people who can't help but back players to score the first goal when there is such a big build up around them before a game.

I think it is written in the stars whereas my mates just think I am another mug punter.

In fairness, they are probably right but that won't stop me getting stuck into a couple of players on Saturday that I just feel are inevitable goalscorers.

It's been a testing week for John Terry but don't be surprised if he gets on the scoresheet against Arsenal at Stamford Bridge.

Like him (Chelsea fans) or loath him (everyone else), Terry is never far away from the headlines but the last time he was bang under it was last year at Burnley after all that tabloid tittle tattle surrounding the whole incident with Wayne Bridge's girlfriend.

Everyone was looking at JT and what did he do?

Yep, he scored the winner at Turf Moor and with Arsenal as dodgy as ever from set-pieces I can just see Terry rising and heading home to the delight of his adoring supporters.

I also can't get away from Darren Bent notching for Aston Villa at former club Sunderland.

Regular readers will know I am a huge fan of Bent and I can just see him silencing the Wearsiders who will no doubt be baying for blood which is sure to pump up the England international.

I just hope that if Bent bags he gives it large when celebrating.

Showing respect to your former clubs is okay if you have been a club legend for 20 years but Bent was only at Sunderland for a short period and never mind paying respect to your ex, how about showing some proper respect to your new love.
