Geordies look to a sure thing to see off Reds
DARE I laugh at the fact Andy Carroll announced yesterday that he will not celebrate if he scores a goal for Liverpool at Newcastle on Sunday afternoon?
It’s probably not advisable. After all, Fernando Torres notched at Villa on Saturday and it would be no surprise if the two infamous flops of that mad January transfer window in 2011 popped up and did the business this weekend.
The only trouble is that I cannot have Liverpool at Newcastle at all.
The Reds have lost five of their last six matches and were woeful in their 2-1 defeat at home to Wigan.
Yet they still sing Kenny Dalglish’s name.
It’s a frightening thought that they could get their hands on two pieces of silverware this season, but I cannot see them beating Newcastle.
Alan Pardew’s done brilliantly to keep the Magpies in the hunt for a European place this season.
Some of his players look top drawer. Papiss Cisse is banging in the goals even if Demba Ba has slowed up a bit and they can cause all sorts of problems for the Liverpool defence.
They look a cracking price at 15-8.
That should get us back on an even keel after Bournemouth failed to do the business on Saturday.
If only it was as easy for Liverpool.
