Finish is in sight in footie marathon
THEY think it's all over, it is now.
Probablythe most famous piece of commentary in the history of sport, but it is fitting the way I'm feeling about football this weekend.
Reading and Charlton have secured their titles while it seems like about two months ago that Rangers were unable to catch Celtic.
Yet we are told the race to finish top of the Premier League will go to the wire.
Why not the tape? Why the wire? Surely that's something more in common with Steve McQueen trying to ride that motorbike over the fence rather than Usain Bolt leaving the world in his wake in the Olympic Stadium in a few months.
We're told its a marathon not a sprint and Mrs B always makes a point of watching those unfortunate souls trudging around London after being roped into a task their heart may not be in, only to falter towards the end.
But enough about Luka Modric and Gareth Bale at Tottenham, what about Sunday's football?
I can't see beyond the two Manchester teams and will be backing them in a win-to-nil double.
United should see off Everton even though David Moyes's boys always come good at this time of year and if Wolves get anything at home to City, I'll eat my sofa.
