Drogba's lot looking to open the floodgates
IVORY COAST haven't really interested me from a betting perspective in the African Nations Cup so far – I've turned my back on the Elephants, which is never a good idea– but I suppose they can convince me about their credentials if they see off surprisingly solid Burkina Faso with ease.
I heard someone saying that Ivory Coast are bound to score a sackful soon because with Didier Drogba,Salomon Kalou and Gervinho they have a reservoir of talent up front. A reservoir? That's not the water-based description I would have chosen.
Gervinho makes me think of droughts, can't think why, while Kalou brings to mind mirages – you know, someone seeing something that's not really there.
Drogba just makes me think about kicking water bottles.
Anyway, the water I'm really hoping for is the kind of rain which made Wednesday's clash between Libya and Zambia so entertaining.
There's nothing like a waterlogged pitch to make a dull-looking game infinitely more exciting and the Libya-Zambia farce was sensational.
This time I won't be satisfiedwith the extent of the downpour until Drogba has to bring the Elephants out in a boat while wearing a fisherman's cagoule.
