Come on football family, give Carlos a new home

I know the festive season is usually the time for charitable appeals – a turkey is for life, not just for Christmas – but surely the football family needs to pull together and find Carlos Tevez a new home.

Not literally – given the money Carlito’s been earning for the last few years it’s safe to assume that he’s got a foot on the property ladder by now – but in footballing terms.

Reports linking him with Inter and Milan have gone cold and Manchester City have apparently turned down Corinthians’ offer of a handful of magic beans.

It’s a crying shame that poor Carlos hasn’t been seen on a football pitch – or even looking sulky near a football pitch – since September.

During the transfer window football clubs have to think like punters, sniffing out the best available value, and I’ve narrowed Tevez’s list of possible destinations down to two.

The first is a massive club in need of some inspiration from a proven international-class striker so let bygones be bygones and sign him up, Sir Alex!

The second, more likely scenario is that Tevez turns up at Paolo di Canio’s Swindon Town. The Robins are in the market for a striker, having bid for Oxford’s James Constable, and I’d love to see Di Canio take the troubled Argentinian under his wing.

What could possibly go wrong?
