Capital effort can restore some wounded pride
WELL that just goes to show what I know, doesn’t it.
I couldn’t have been more bullish about City’s chances had I been eating aroast beef sandwich and a bag of beef and onion crisps, washed down with a mug of Bovril while I waited to run the bulls at Pamplona.
But there you go. Edinson Cavani did the business for Napoli and after my earlier disappointment at CSKA Moscow capitulating against Lille, I was left licking my wounds, just like the bookies were at the weekend when virtually every hot favourite came in.
Well, all of them except Chelsea, who will have their work cut out to show those bods on the TV that they are right to describe the Premier League as the best in the world.
I wait to be convinced. At least 12 teams in the Prem look complete dross to me.
But Chels can sort it out against Bayer Leverkusen if you ask me and Arsenal can also stick one up the Germans by beating Borussia Dortmund.
Arsene Wenger’s mob seem to be sorting themselves out and three points at the Emirates looks well within their compass.
Robin van Persie is going great guns and, if I am not speaking too prematurely, it seems that Theo Walcott is getting his act together as well.
So it’s a London double for me.
Let continental domination recommence.
