Bore draws in store for Europa League punters
IS it Man City against Man United tonight then?Oh, how much longer have we got to wait? Come on Sepp, come on Platini – give the people what they want – wave that beautiful Europa League trophy in Sir Fergie’s face!
I would personally like to see a Birmingham-Man United final, but sadly it looks like the Bluenoses are on their way out. The Brum need to beat Maribor tonight and then hope Braga can get an away win at Bruges.
When you are relying on other teams to help you qualify, you are skating on thin ice, particularly when a draw would be enough for both Bruges and Braga to progress to the next round. The Bra Bra Boys are unlikely to do Birmingham a favour. You could say it’s gone tits-up for Chris Hughton’s team.
Salonika and Rubin can also play out a mutually beneficial draw tonight to knock Tottenham out. I met a girl called Monica who was from Salonika when I was in Amsterdam a few years ago. We had a tremendous chuckle about her rhyming name.
I wonder if Monica will be tuning in to the inevitable bore draw? I might pile into no goalscorer to pay for another visit over to my favourite Dutch city.
