Weblog: Rolling with the punches - a season with Sublimity & co.
We have decided to go to Cheltenham
"If you go, I'll go," said my father Bill, so we're going to go to Cheltenham.
It won't be quite the same without Sublimity, but we've been going to the festival together for years and years and I would have felt selfish if my father had missed it because of me.
With no runners at home, we'll be jetting in bright and early on Tuesday morning and are expected back in County Meath late on Friday evening.
Sub is being treated at Oliver Finnegan's spa and, after his fourth day there, it is already looking much better. He's okay in himself too.
Oliver has seen all sorts of injuries come through his place and said he's seen horses come back right as rain from a lot worse, so there's hope. The vet is also happy with his progress.
While we are no longer involved in the Champion Hurdle, it's still on the mind and I had a chat with Barry Geraghty about it this week. He's sticking with Punjabi of course - "how could you get off a Champion Hurdle winner" - and must have a great chance. It seems wide open this time around and as I've no cards to keep close to my chest in this hand, I'll give you all my thoughts on Monday.
Obviously I will be cheeringon Solwhit - and my Ten To Follow list!
