Weblog: Living the Dunguib dream, for now at least
Watch out Cheltenham, Dunguib is on the way
DUNGUIB is on the long road to Cheltenham with an estimated time of arrival at the track between 10-11am on Tuesday, March 16.
However, Dunguib will be in the vicinity from 5pm this evening, hopefully in time to eat his supper in peace in the same airy stable Jim Wilson kindly lent us last year.
Having him away from the hustle 'n' bustle of Cheltenham until the very last minute is key as I'm sure he'd run his race a day or two early otherwise - even if he was up the top in the Irish yard.
He had his supper ate up before leaving Glenbower Hill with Jamie at 4am, though I must admit that I was sound asleep and never heard them leave.
No problems have been reported so far and with a bit of luck all will continue to go as smoothly. As I said previously, we'll not be taking any chances.
Domestic action does not stop when the Cheltenham Festival begins and both Greenhill Millie and Sunshine Haven are very well and ready for their tests at Limerick on Saturday.
Greenhill Millie surprised us all when taking the bumper at Fairyhouse in February and she certainly deservesher shot at the maiden hurdle. It is not the greatest race, but one or two look tough enough to beat.
It's an all girl affair in Sunshine Haven's bumper as the 13 mares will be ridden by female riders. Pauline Ryan is our jockey and she should get a nice spin if Sunshine likes the better ground.
Old Charm and Hairy Molly are our representatives at Limerick and Navan on Sunday, though I'm not sure about either's chance. It is a step down for Old Charm and an experimental switch to hurdles for Hairy Molly, so we'll see what happens.
Last Instalment is our top point-to-pointer that won last weekend. No idea what the thinking behind the suggestion He's A Magpie came from - can someone tell me?
